Jimmy Loyd Carpenter is hospitalized after a collision between his 1965 International pickup and a 1956 Mack tractor trailer at the intersection of Highways 114 and 2123 south of the overpass within city limits at 1 45 a m Sunday. Police Chief Walter Dale says the pickup was totally demolished and Carpenter was pinned in the cab. The gravel-filled truck owned by Wichita Mack Sales driven by Edgar Agene Hatcher of Wichita Falls was southbound and the damage was estimated at about 995 dollars.
Postmaster Ed Cowling says an attempted break-in at the Post Office Friday night appeared to fail while postal investigators checked the scene. The item notes Mrs. Bonnie Teague of Bowie visiting the index office and Sammy Garrett enrolling in the second semester of summer school at TWC Fort Worth, who suffered a broken leg bruises and lacerations.
