The Bridgeport three day centennial rodeo runs July 19 20 21 at the Riding Club arena with 8 15 p m shows preceded by a 3 30 p m parade from West Cates Street and Acme Brick plant. Admission 1 50 adults 75 cents children.
A Show and Sell sidewalk art show for the Centennial celebration is scheduled for Saturday July 21 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. More than 300 invitations have been issued to out of state artists and patrons. Galleries in Fort Worth and Dallas were invited to view works including Crewel and Ceramics paintings and drawings in Halsell Street business district. The Bridgeport Art Club sponsors the event with Bert Hudson as president.
The Centennial Executive Committee cut the price of Wagon Wheels to Rockets from five to three dollars for a single copy or five dollars for two copies. A gift-pack including a coin plate and book will sell for six dollars. Advance orders at five dollars remain eligible for two books or the gift package with a one dollar upgrade.
A benefit event for Scotty Johnson features George Andre and a high school stage band concert along with a dance at Runaway Bay scheduled for Saturday night, July 14. Scotty, son of Mr and Mrs Bill Johnson, has been hospitalized in Dallas for months with a serious illness and was recently moved to a Dallas apartment.
Centennial event invites entrants for the Rocking Chair Marathon with a 150 prize. No age limit. contestants supply chairs. Deadline noon July 18. event July 19 at City Hall. Contact Burr Scrogum of Richardson Furniture. Second and third prizes planned.
All boys who participated in the Little League Program are requested to return their uniform to 901 13th Street on Monday and Tuesday July 16 and 17 between 5 and 6 p.m. The $2.00 deposit will be refunded at this time.
