Rock Island Buys 25 Auto Carriers for Expanded Traffic
Rock Island Railroad will hire 25 new 80 foot flat cars at a cost of 500000 to handle growing automobile shipments. ACF Industries of St Louis will build the cars and Whitehead and Kales of Detroit will install tri level racks for 12 conventional or 15 compact cars. Delivery starts mid August.

Water use hits all time high in Bridgeport week
Figures show Bridgeport water consumption for July 1–7 declines from 1958 to 1962 but rises sharply in 1963 to 5 294 700 gallons, an all time weekly record. On July 8 that year usage reached 90 00 gallons, per Lonnie Denton, assistant superintendent.

Mrs J V Montrief aged 81 died yesterday morning at 9 30 in a Fort Worth rest home where she had resided about three years. A charter member of Bridgeport First Presbyterian Church her funeral is pending with Hawkins Funeral Home.
