Bulls and Girls Teams Split Wins in District Play
The Bridgeport Bulls beat Granbury 61-57 at Decker Gym after a 53-50 loss to Lake Worth at Bull Gym. Mike Scroggins led the Bulls with 23 points, Thomas Cansler adding 19 against Granbury and 13 rebounds overall. The girls edged Lake Worth 37-36 but fell 42-38 to Granbury with Carol Campsey scoring 17 in the Lake Worth game and Brenda Offutt 15 in the Granbury tilt. Both boys and girls teams face Keller Friday and travel to Decatur next Tuesday.

Mothers' March Aims for Voter Registration Surge in Wise County
Wise County voter applications rose sharply to 5 288 by Tuesday morning. The county counts 6 325 registrations last year and 7 872 in 1968 with a general election ahead. The 1971 Texas law makes new registrations permanent if voters vote every three years, with renewals by mail and Social Security numbers required.

Fashion Shoppe Change Hands In Fort Worth
Mrs Joyce Armes Cheves of Fort Worth becomes owner of Peggy's Fashion Shoppe at 1305 Eleventh Street. The dress shop formerly owned by Mrs Peggy Mote will be renamed Joyce's Fashion Shoppe. The new owner's mother Mrs Chester Armes oversees operations temporarily. Cheves to assume management in a few days.

Privitt Named Coordinator For Briscoe
C E Privitt owner of a Bridgeport based computerized accounting firm has been named Wise County Coordinator for the Dolph Briscoe for Governor campaign. He also farms a hundred acres northeast of Bridgeport and says voters tire of political machines and corruption in Austin and Briscoe offers a fresh honest approach. The March of Dimes Mothers March reaches a climax Monday night in Bridgeport and nearby Runaway Bay with five women s clubs guiding a house to house drive starting at 6 00 p m. Mrs Martha Meyers heads the effort asking residents to light porch lamps for the marchers. Other marches occur in Paradise China and Slidell with Decatur yet to announce a date. A permanent committee to assist families of children with birth defects is forming in Bridgeport. Thirty three percent of Wise County March of Dimes funds stay in the county.
