Wise County attorney W A Nobles announces resignation effective by March 1 with 12 years in office. Re-elected to a four year term in November, he says lack of time for duties and private practice leads to stepping down and will relinquish the office once a replacement is found by county commissioners.

Senior division entrants heading to district include Debbie Stevens Robbie Pipes Beth Hoefle and Mary McWhirter across hot rolls peas and bean casserole lasagna and Here’s My Heart Cake. Junior division qualifiers include Kim Williams Regina Pitts Shawn South Melinda Gasperson Annette Searle with alternates listed for each entry.

The Decatur Hospital Authority formally accepted the low bid of 1 255 100 by Cope and Smith Incorporated of Fort Worth for the new hospital. The decision ends a lengthy 1967 started effort, with construction secured in 1972 when the Department approved.
Bridgeport volunteers collected an estimated 450 dollars during the Mothers March held Monday night. About 20 canvassed doors while the second phase mails donation requests to over 180 local merchants and businessmen. Joe Murphy leads the campaign with Jane Kasner and Judy Denton assisting.
