The Bridgeport Chamber of Commerce held a January 18 meeting at the German Coffee Shop with President Gordon Taylor. Directors discussed a membership drive and possible board changes, electing four new directors for three year terms and Earl German for a two year term. The newly elected directors will meet March 7 and be installed at the March banquet. Local businessmen considered forming an emergency communications system. no action was taken.

Two Firms Hit With Burglaries in Bridgeport
Burglaries struck two Bridgeport businesses Monday night. Dairy Queen and Walnut Tree novelty shop on Hovey Street suffered thefts involving cash and merchandise. Police Chief Walter Dale noted back door tampering at the Dairy Queen and a window entry at the Walnut Tree. Cash losses totaled about 127 dollars, while 63 dollars in merchandise plus a damaged cash register were also reported. A separate fire hall fundraising drive continues with volunteers from City Hall and local residents aiding telethon efforts.

Granbury Edges Keller Then Dominates Decatur
Bridgeport won two key games at Granbury with wins over Keller on January 11 and Decatur on January 14. Thomas Cansler led the Bull attack vs Keller with 19 points, Mike Scroggins added 13, Albert Gonzales 12, and Chris Tucker 12. Bulls grabbed 51 rebounds.
