C L Gage Jr as transferee of James Wood filed suit July 26 against Rowsco Inc and Mai to foreclose, sheriff seized the property, Mai deposited 1.4 million cash and later added 65 756 in interest and fees, Judge Foster ordered a judicial foreclosure but the parties disputed the amount owed, and the case concluded with the note paid in full while the club faces declining membership and services under Mai with manager Bruce Campbell hopeful about its future.

Devon Energy Donates 10000 Toward Lake Bridgeport VFD Truck
Devon Energy Corporation donated 10000 to Lake Bridgeport Volunteer Fire Department to help fund a new fire engine. Chief William Garrett said the gift covers part of the 12000 cost and will supplement Texas Fire Fighter Grant Program funds from FEMA. The department currently relies on a 1972 Model Max and will replace it with a 2006 Model International.

Burn ban extended indefinitely in Wise County
Wise County commissioners extended the outdoor burn ban indefinitely after a Fire Marshal report of 112 grass fires and 19 structure fires from December 1 to January 3. The action, taken at a January 3 emergency meeting, follows Governor Perry's disaster declaration and aligns with a Keetch-Byram drought index of 722. The order restricts welding, outdoor ignition sources, and fireworks with stringent clearance, wind, humidity, and on site fire guard requirements.
