Beavers, 48, Bridgeport resident, died Christmas Eve in a westbound crash on FM 1810 near Chico. Trooper Christopher Petty said he was trying to catch his son Johnny, who led on a separate bike, when Beavers failed to negotiate a left curve near FM 2127 and ran off the north shoulder.

Coit Harris began his new role as Chico's Code Enforcement Officer on January 3, leaving a long career in surveying dating back to 1978.
