Bridgeport Stage Band Brings Home Third In State AA
Bridgeport High School Stage Band earned third place at the 13th Brownwood Stage Band Festival. Atlanta High School won first with Hamlin second. several other Class AA bands also competed without placing. Gary Dawkins made the All-Star trumpet lineup from about 200 players across 44 bands. Additionally H H Boomer Mara announced his Wise County sheriff bid after World War II Coast Guard service.

Oil Well Fire Claims Fort Worth Victim H C Graves
Fire at an oil well near Chico injures several workers and kills H C Graves of Nocona after a pipe burst and explosion. The Chico volunteers contained the blaze in about 45 minutes. Graves died Wednesday at Harris Hospital Fort Worth after severe burns. funeral services are set in Nocona.

Suspects Nabbed In P W Burglary
Two Bowie men were arrested by Police Officers Clarence Pennartz Clarence Brooks and Deputy Sheriff Howard Jordan for the burglary of P W Grocery on February 25 1930. They attempted entry through doors then broke the rear office window and stole cash from the safe and money order box along with merchandise. About $200 in goods and cash remain unrecovered per owner Leon Wilkerson.
