New Chamber Directors Elected For Bridgeport Chamber

Four directors were elected to serve three years on the Bridgeport Chamber of Commerce board for 1974. Howard Meyers was re elected and Dr L V Selz Clint Muhlinghouse and G B Funk were chosen. The new officers will take office March 22 at Sally Martin Hall.

Paradise School Set for District Playoff Opener

Paradise School begins Class B district playoffs with an away game against Krum Friday night. A win earns a Tuesday date with Slidell, possible third game Friday for district crown. Paradise has 19 wins and 6 losses, eight man lineup led by Read Norris Tackle Remmele Graham Chambers Hughes Milligan. Coach Fortenberry cites defense as strongest facet in a contest of schools with 114 students or fewer.

More Volunteers Sought for Bridgeport Citizen Patrol

Bridgeport Chamber of Commerce representative Howard Meyers reports 35 attendees at a citizen patrol meeting. To cover a monthly night shift schedule from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m. or 2 a.m. to 6 a.m., 129 volunteers are needed. about 70 are currently involved. The patrol, started before Christmas, aids local police at night with radio equipped cars in contact with authorities.

Durbin Honored At Bridgeport Optimist Dinner

Joe Durbin is to be honored with a dinner and program on February 26 as the Bridgeport Optimist Club and Bridgeport Chamber of Commerce team up for the Honor Joe Durbin Nite. Durbin founded the local Optimist Club chapter and has given many hours of service.

Bridgeport Graduate Receives UT San Antonio Scholarship

John Thomas Fletcher, son of Mr and Mrs T R Fletcher of Bridgeport, earned the Doherty Scholarship from the University of Texas at San Antonio. A 1966 Bridgeport High School graduate, he was valedictorian at graduation.
