Burt Pharmacy Burglary Foiled by Police
Thieves broke into Burt Pharmacy early Thursday and tried to steal medicines and cash. A box of drugs valued around 150 to 200 dollars was found at the back door, with 46.15 missing from the register. A pry bar and screwdriver were left behind and 39 dollars was later recovered on Cates Street. Police credited a late alarm arrival for stopping the break in. Chief Walter Dale labeled the likely burglars as amateurs. Assistant Police Chief Bill Bridges and Officer Lonnie Lane answered the 2:20 a.m. alarm.

Sue Ann Expands Bridgeport Plant to Double Capacity
Sue Ann Inc. announces an April expansion of its Bridgeport women’s sports wear plant. General contractor H. Russell of Bridgeport to oversee the project, completion set for early April. The factory opened October 25 and will add about 50 workers after expansion. Five factories total, with plans under way to buy two more. Local branch manager is Mrs. Azelene Souther. Bridgeport Chamber Eyes Defensive Driving Course

Bridgeport March of Dimes Fund Reaches About $500
Bridgeport officials report the March of Dimes fund has added about 50 to reach roughly 500. Campaign director Joe Murphy credits local merchants for recent donations received during the mail out effort. About a quarter of donation letters have been sent with the rest due to go out in two weeks.
