Editor Harlan Bridwell travels to Washington D C with publishers from the 13th Congressional District. He flew from Dallas on an American Airlines jet and plans to return this weekend after briefing sessions with cabinet officials.
Wise County Texas mayors announce February 9 to 15 as National Beauty Salon Week. The National Hairdressers and Cosmetologists Association backs the event and local salons offer free services to girls from elementary grades. Seventy Bridgeport students qualify for free shaping shampoo and sets, with operators also assisting at the Golden Years Retreat.
The Methodist Church schedules a revival from February 16 to 21 with Rev. Bob Lindsey of Wesley Methodist Church Corsicana Texas as evangelist. Services run nightly at 7 30 p m with nursery provided. Local shops listed as members of the association include Modern Beauty Shop Elmira Perry owner Evelyn's Evelyn Davis Florence's Florence King Rosalie's Beauty Shop Rosie Boaz owner Hazel's Beauty Shop Hazel Bridges owner and Mildred's Beauty Shop Mildred Cayce owner.
Bridgeport High School’s senior class will present Moliere’s The Imaginary Invalid on February 20. John Peninger, NTSC technical director, arranged loan of 17th century costumes from Supper Theatre for the show.
Freddie Smith 20 of Bridgeport suffered severe cuts and bruises after dozing at the wheel on highway 287 overpass north of Saginaw early Saturday February 8. His 1962 Corvair and a 1964 Chevrolet Impala were totaled. Holton 24 of Newark drove the other car. Smith remained in intensive care two days before being released.
A school trustee election set for April 4 will choose three board members. Incumbents L A Walker Earl Fagg and E F Frnka may seek re election or other candidates may file. Five qualified voters must file a petition with the secretary by March 4 to place a name on the ballot. Absentee ballots available through the school office after ballots are printed. Election officials and polling place to be announced at least ten days before election via notices and print.
