Education Foundation annual banquet set for February 18 in Bridgeport
The Bridgeport Independent School District Education Foundation will host its annual banquet Saturday night February 18 at 6:30 in the Bridgeport High School commons. About 300 attendees are expected for the largest BEF fundraiser with silent and live auctions overseen by Brent Singleton. Entertainment by the Bridgeport High School Jazz Band runs 6:30 to 7:15. Bridgeport police seek several local young men in a felony criminal mischief case spanning much of the east side. The $6500 to $7000 in vehicle damage followed an early Friday vandalism spree centered near Bridgeport Intermediate School. A vigilant resident alerted authorities around 3 45 a.m. leading to a stop of a suspect vehicle and the investigation. Police say arrests could come within a couple days as the probe continues.

Denton Police arrest Terry McBride on large bad check charge
Terry Lee McBride, 36, of Bridgeport, was arrested in Runaway Bay by Denton Police on a felony charge for issuing a bad check between 20 000 and 100 000 dollars. He posted a 10 000 dollar bond and was released Friday. A court date has not yet been set, with potential penalties including two to 10 years in prison and fines up to 10 000 dollars. Wise County Sheriff David Walker is also reviewing reports of further possible involvement.
