Wise County fire relief funds grow after Decatur benefit
Donations continued Monday boosting the Wise County Fire Relief Fund. The Decatur benefit auction and dinner drew 2,000 attendees with more than 2,000 chairs needed. More than 87,000 dollars were donated by Jennifer Haney and others, with 77,372 to be split among 17 volunteer departments and an additional 10,000 to specific units.

Atmos Energy says Wise County residents should see lower utility bills due to milder January weather, restored Gulf Coast production after Katrina, and high storage. The firm seeks a 36 percent cut in February gas costs, saving about $50 for an average home. PCA and PCRF mechanisms may also lessen electric bills if gas costs fall.
