Bridgeport School Board Approves Five Year Plan

The Bridgeport school board gave final approval to a five year plan aimed at improving district schools. A 25 parent and 25 student staff committee gathered data for the plan over more than a year as part of a self evaluation required for continued accreditation by the Texas Education Agency.

Bradley resigns from Bridgeport School Board presidency

Wayne Bradley, serving five years on the Bridgeport School Board and elected president after the 1976 vote, offers resignation for personal reasons. The board will decide January 17. if accepted, he will leave in April 1977 to allow a replacement to be chosen in the April election.

Lamkin Named To Bridgeport City Council

John Lamkin retired vice president and district manager for Palo Pinto Telephone Company was named Monday night to fill the vacancy left by Howard Meyers in Bridgeport. The unanimous vote followed Councilman Jack Vandeventer endorsement. Lamkin will serve until April when the regular election is held and may seek the seat then. Meyers’ term would have expired in 1978.

Aides Hired In Lieu Of First Grade Teacher

At a Monday Board meeting Donna McClung was approved as a first grade aide and Doris Polnack was chosen as aide to kindergarten instructors. The action follows an overcrowding concern discussed December 6 and adds two aides to augment staff.

Six Wise County Officials to Take Oaths in Ceremony

Six Wise County officials will be sworn in by Judge W. A. Hughes in the District Courtroom on December 23 at 4 p.m. The incoming officials include commissioners Jim Harris and 8. C. Hays, Sheriff Carl Ramsey, County Attorney Stephen Wren, and Constables Pat Davis and W. R. Jones. Mrs. Emma Ray and Larry Sullivant will also be sworn in though they have already served in their offices. County Treasurer and District Judge offices noted. Public invited.
