Two-Truck Crash Kills Man in Wise County
A two-truck collision on US 380 4.1 miles east of Decatur left Waylon Harold Klatt dead at the scene. Leonard Pollock and Jessie Vance were treated after the wreck, which involved a glass-hauling rig and caused highway closures for over an hour.

Car Train Collisions injure four in Wise County
Two auto train crashes in Wise County last week seriously injured one person and left others treated at local hospitals. In Bridgeport James Hayes Christian skidded into a train engine. his pickup damaged but he not seriously hurt. In Paradise Roy Monroe Phillips’s car was struck on FM 3259 near US 114 injuring Mildred Wilson and sending a second passenger Juanita Clements to Decatur hospital.

Woman Burned As Housecoat Catches Fire
Cindy Crimm of Bridgeport suffered severe burns when her housecoat ignited from an open gas heater at her parents' home. She underwent skin grafts at Parkland Hospital burn center in Dallas and was reported in good condition after extensive surgery.

County approves second ambulance purchase for Wise County
Wise County commissioners agreed to buy a 1978 Chevrolet van ambulance from Prestige Vehicles of Arlington for 14 666 dollars, the lowest of three bids. The unit will lack a radio and some disposable hardware but fits Trinity Emergency Medical specs. two tachographs will be installed in the old and new ambulances to monitor mileage and speed.
