Bridgeport School Opening Set for Tuesday

Bridgeport Public Schools will start on Tuesday Septem ber 2nd at 8 30 a.m. Bus service will run on schedule. Elementary and junior high cafeterias will be open. Superintendent A E Greer thanks Mayor Harwood and Raymond Shawn for graveling Sandwin Avenue and 15th Street and Clay Saunders for clearing the drive and gravelling it. Moving equipment and books from the old to the new building began Wednesday.

Bridgeport School Board Approves 1969 70 Budget

Bridgeport School Board approves a 843875 dollar budget for the 1969 70 year at a special meeting on Monday August 25. The budget reduces last year’s overall figure despite adding eight staff and raising the starting teacher salary to 5336 dollars. Local Maintenance Fund and Interest and Linking Fund allocations are specified to retire bonds and pay interest.

County Shrine Club Forms Motor Corps in Wise County

The Wise County Shrine Club plans a motor corps of cycle riders to appear in parades football games and public functions. Twenty members have bought cycles and will practice after officers and squadron leaders are elected. The group will serve all Wise County towns and a activities schedule will follow later. Charles Carson of Decatur is president and will help instruct youths.

Sewalt Wins Steer Wrestling at Sidney Rodeo

Ronnye Sewalt of Chico wins steer wrestling average at Sidney Iowa rodeo by downing three steers in 24.0 seconds earning 990 dollars. He also shares first in calf roping second go round with a 400 dollar prize while the Rodeo Cowboys Association notes his overall standings. The Rural School bus story follows separate local routing changes. West Side bus to run two daily routes starting September 2 with six dollar family fee due early month.

Scrimmage Games Set for Bridgeport Area Football

Scrimmage games announced for Friday August 29 here with Mansfield. B team at 6 30 p m and varsity to follow. Fans see football prospects for fall. Next Friday Bridgeport faces Lake Worth at 6 30 p m with B team first and varsity after in Bullie stadium. Post Office and First National Bank Bridgeport to close all day September 1 for Labor Day.

West Side to Run School Bus for Coming Year

Notice states the West Side will operate a school bus for the upcoming year. Elementary and high school students will ride the West Side bus, while junior high riders are assigned to the same service.

Weatherford College Offers Bus Service to Area Communities

Weatherford College announces bus service for Fall Semester starting September 15. Three routes will run from Jacksboro to Perrin Mineral Wells to Weatherford College, Granbury to Weatherford College, and Decatur to Bridgeport Paradise Springtown to Weatherford College. Semester fees are 29 dollars in Parker County and 35 outside Parker County. Students should contact the Registrar for details at 594 5471.
