Brown Named To School Board

Dr. Jim Brown was appointed by the Bridgeport School Board to replace Terry Carlton who resigned. After secret-ballot votes and an initial tie, Brown won on the third ballot from five nominees. Brown owns Honey Hollow Ranch near Runaway Bay in Bridgeport ISD. tax records confirm residency.

Dairy Festival Schedule Announces Dairy Princess Crowns

The schedule lists events at the Women's Building in Decatur on Thursday August 18. Crownings include La Petite Junior Miss and Senior Miss with exhibits opening at 9 p.m. A Food Show on Friday August 19 is led by Jean Collier followed by a catered luncheon at noon for Dairyland of Jacksboro with pricing 3.50 for adults and 2.00 for children.

Moehring Named Paradise School Superintendent

Joe Moehring was chosen to replace Earl Tate as Paradise superintendent. He comes from Frisco where he led as high and middle school principal and has 16 years in education including roles at Burleson and Frisco. Moehring holds a B S and M Ed from Southwest Texas State University.

Trustees Approve 1.7 Million Bridgeport Budget

Bridgeport Schools plan a 1.7 million dollar budget for 1977 78 with salaries over 1.2 million and a tax rate of 1 25 per 100 assessed value. A public hearing is set for August 22 at 7 00 p m. and the board notes a tax reduction for most taxpayers due to state education funding while warning of road conditions affecting a Draper Addition bus route and no bids received for the Building Trades House sale with a minimum price of 32 000.

Wise County appoints Renae Sanders as extension agent

Renae Sanders of Crowell was approved by Wise County Commissioners to replace retiring Jessie Earl Condron as county extension agent. The 26 year old, a Texas Christian University graduate who has worked in Johnson County, will coordinate 4 H activities and serve as home economics advisor with a focus on energy conservation.

Decatur Man Charged in Wise County Reunion Assault

Assault charges filed against 28 year old Bobby MccCullogh of Decatur for an alleged fight during the Wise County Reunion. Sheriff Rook Ramsey said McCullogh assaulted Timothy Mark Jones. McCullogh was arrested Sunday and jailed pending bond after the complaint was filed last weekend.

Bridgeport trustees approve an all-day half-year kindergarten plan from 8 30 a m to 2 45 p m due to state funding changes. Half the students attend fall classes and the rest spring sessions, despite parental concerns about abrupt adjustment.

Lake Bridgeport Voters to Decide Sales Tax Issue

Lake Bridgeport voters will determine a one percent sales and use tax at a Saturday election. The city council will host a Thursday town meeting at Bilbys Marina at 8 p.m. to explain the measure and answer questions. Polls open 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the Lake Bridgeport Baptist Church.

Boyd Woman Dies in Personal Safety Related Gunshot

A 25 year old Pamela Woods of Wise County reportedly despondent over personal problems died Saturday from an apparently self inflicted .22 caliber gunshot wound. Sheriff Ramsey said the body was found by her husband near their home six miles southwest of Boyd under a shade tree. A letter found nearby outlined problems but did not mention death by own action.
