He warned five more years of the same financing could push New Haven to the level of Boston and Maine. He cited the 1907 merger, claiming it saddled the line with poor securities, cut earnings, and depressed stock value while enriching trolley insiders. He demanded scrutiny of a $100000 transition gain claimed by Mellen and the $100000 spent by Robbins to influence public opinion and Connecticut legislation. He questioned how these funds were used and demanded full disclosure.

Washington May 18 Africans with possible exceptions of the barefoot boy are walking around on not less than 112,000 pounds of glucose and epsom salts adulterants in soft leather. The Agriculture Department reports its findings from a new bulletin on composition of come sole leathers. Adulterants add weight but do not affect wearing value. large amounts may shorten life. Sixty three percent of leathers examined contained hicoss or epsom salts or both with averages of about 3 percent loading. Max glucose 10.4 percent. maximum loading 16 percent. Overall, estimates say up to 12,000,000 pounds of these materials are sold annually to Americans.
