Wilson and Marshall Renominated by Democratic Midnight Session
At the Democratic national convention in St Louis the party renominated Woodrow Wilson for president and Thomas Riley Marshall for vice president after a dramatic midnight session. Senator Westcott of New Jersey delivered the renomination speech amid wild cheers as Bryan electrified the hall with a 20 minute pro peace, pro Wilson address praising tariff and anti trust measures and urging unity for the 1916 campaign. The crowd roared as Bryan lauded Wilson and condemned Republican opposition while warning of dangers in Mexico and foreign policy.
