A U S Department of Agriculture study over five months proves parcel post marketing can raise producer income and deliver fresher eggs to consumers. Tests shipped 9,131 eggs in 46 cent lots. 36 percent broke but only 23 percent were wasted, with most usable. Proper candling, careful packing, and returnable containers cut costs. Large shipments and zone rates reduce per dozen costs. price should reflect wholesale market plus a small premium for new laid eggs.
