Radel Oyster Co May Move to Norwalk Over Harbor Grab
Bridgeport investors warn that the Radel Oyster Company will relocate to Norwalk or Oyster Bay if eleven acres of harbor flats are used for freight yards by the New Haven railroad. Superintendent W Halsey estimates a $1,500 weekly payroll and twelve steamers, with taxes in Bridgeport at stake as the company expands. The city line shift is framed as a threat to local commerce and harbor access, prompting calls for action from business and civic groups.
