Four Yale Students Expelled After Court Fines

Four Sheffield Scientific School students at Yale were expelled after pleading guilty to defacing property with unprintable inscriptions on a professor they disliked. Three were fined 50 dollars plus costs. a fourth student, Robert Pretat, was fined 30 dollars. Names include George Orlady of Huntington Pennsylvania, Robert Lang of New Haven, and John Macelhiny of Port Washington New York. They also pleaded guilty to drunkenness but that charge was not pressed.

Norfolk Wisconsin June 8 A sensational confession clears the murder mystery of Harry C Davis found buried in an onion patch at Mrs Minnie E Murdocks Mason's Creek The woman accuses her lover Charles Merkle of the crime and says she aided in hiding the body Merkle and the woman are held on murder charges The confession details the killing as Davis slept in her arms and Merkle crushed his head with an axe The pair buried the body under the bed and later in the onion patch Additional alleged crimes are noted but unproven.

Mayor Starts Men Repairing Fairfield Avenue

Repairs began this morning on Fairfield Avenue to fix the worst spots with crushed stone and cement from the Main Street end. The work is temporary with asphalt slated later in summer. Mayor Buckingham and Public Works Director M A Kenny inspected the street yesterday. The Connecticut Co is ready to relay tracks but delays by State Street work will pause parallel street disruption. Hartford reports a public looting by packaged goods not weighed at purchase. Sealer Edward J. Alderman Timko seeks liquor license transfer in Bank Street plan

Alderman Frank Timko of the Thing district seeks to move his liquor license from Elm Street to Bank Street.
