New York reports police have strong leads linking the German wireless system to plans for wireless outfits intended to convey information to Berlin and depart for Mexico. Investigators say papers found at homes of arrestees show agents assembling wireless parts in a downtown storeroom, later moved to a tea and coffee warehouse. Henry Frencke, an electrical engineer, and four others face postal law conspiracy charges as authorities disclose 150 wireless outfit plans and a man who approved supply bills. Frencke, once a Hamburg American Line engineer, allegedly delivered letters from Germans to sailors for routing to Germany.

Pair Accused of Passing Bad Coin in East Side

George Bushy and Louis Stamon were arrested at the Remington Arms barracks by Capt. George Coley and Detective Kane for allegedly flooding the East Side with counterfeit 25 and 50 cent pieces. A large stack of spurious coins was found on them at the station and police plan home searches for the coinmaking machine and further evidence.

Four young men in a New York registered car stopped at a gas station at West and Fairfield avenues. They obtained four gallons of gasoline, waved to the attendant, and drove off without paying.

Bassick Co absorbs three concerns forming large hardware maker

The M B Schenck Co of Meriden Universal Works of Newark NJ will be absorbed by the Bassick Co of Bridgeport newly incorporated with 6 million capital to manufacture hardware. Officers include Edgar W Bassick president W A Schenck vice president and W R Bassick treasurer. The Burns Bassick M B Schenck and Universal Caster Fndry Co become branches of the new corporation which may grow to include more firms. The company will not manufacture war munitions and aims to produce iron steel copper wood and other material based items.

Hartford Draft Protester Arrested at Union Station

A man identified as Louis Brodyat, 410 Central Park West New York, a commercial traveler, was arrested at Hartford Union Station for displaying anti draft material. He is held without bail for a hearing before U. S. Commissioner Richard J. Carroll, with claims of arrival from Springfield. No other dangerous papers were found.

Sofia reports on June 5 that the Macedonian front saw repeated enemy assaults repulsed. Poles Form New Polish Army Within French Forces

President Poincare signed a decree creating a Polish army inside the French force. Poles serving in France will form the nucleus and others will be invited to enlist for the war. They will fight under the Polish flag, be organized like the French army, and financed by the French government.
