Hauling Weight Likely Fatal To Bridgeport Worker
Martin Cuello a 40 year veteran of Bridgeport Brass Company died in Bridgeport Hospital on May 23 from cerebral hemorrhage. Coroner J J Phelan found he was crushed while dragging a four wheeled truck with five rolls totaling about one ton. He worked as a two man loader and often dragged heavy loads alone despite available help. The death was ruled accidental with no flying debris involved.

Callanan Wins $1000 Verdict Against Conn Co
John Callanan of this city sued the Connecticut Company for injuries after a streetcar struck him in August 1912 near the Ash Creek bridge on Fairfield avenue. A civil superior court jury awarded $1000, Callanan had sought $4000. His left leg was amputated below the knee and his right ankle fractured. The company argued contributory negligence.
