Los Angeles June 1 The Darrow bribery case resumes as Judge Hutton adjourns to Monday for cross examination of Bert H Franklin, star state witness. Glen D. Staples, 35, killed his mother in law M F Brown and mortally wounded his wife on the Brown farm near Angola, then shot himself as M F Brown escaped to a field. Staples had quarrelled with his mother in law ten days earlier and urged his wife to join him, which she refused.
Three blasts rocked San Francisco late at night causing panic in the city’s entertainment districts. Police investigated suspects linked to Tom Corbett and Stevenson, with two blasts on Stevenson Street and a third at a Bush Street storeroom once used by a bucket shop.
London reports the transport workers’ national executive urged the strike committee to accept the government’s plan. A national conciliation board will review all disputes if the strike ends. The strike committee has until Tuesday to approve the offer.

About 5,000 children formed a long procession from churches along Broad Street and Fairfield avenue to Seaside Park, with banners flags and May poles. May poles bands and drum corps provided music as divisions marched past civic dignitaries including Mayor Wilson and Lt. Gov. Blakeslee.

Practically complete returns from Rhode Island Democratic presidential preferential primary show Speaker Champ Clark winning all 10 delegates to the Baltimore convention. Clark carried every city with 5,712 votes to Wilson 1,530 and Harmon 728. Greene defeated OShaughnessy for national committeeman by a large majority.
New York June 1 The striking waiters won a direct victory as Murray's restaurant signed the union contract ending the immediate walkout. Avistor Beckwith Havens prepared engines at Sea Breeze Island for a 11 17 am test voyage under state approval.
