Norwich January 14 The Superior Court sentenced Alfred Baker to eight months in jail after he was found guilty of assaulting a 12 year old girl from Mystic. Philip Butten received three months in jail on each of two charges. The maximum penalty per count is 30 years. A Mystic citizen petition to purge the town of such men was read, to which the prosecutor replied that two citizens have hanged themselves, two have fled, two have been convicted, and two will be tried.

Hazardville Powder Mills Explosion Marks Devastation
At Hazardville Connecticut on January 14 1 45 PM a massive powder mill blast destroyed three buildings and damaged adjoining property. Two workers were killed and three fatally injured with several others hurt. Windows shattered in homes and stores miles away and telephone lines were knocked out. The press mill housed the workers Stockel and Blondin died while Tudor Blunden Stoker and others suffered injuries. Public schools closed due to blast damage and memorial windows in churches were broken.
