The piece blends humor with childlike reflections on fat versus thin kids and holiday expectations. An ad for Foley Kidney Pills appears at the end, mentioning Hindle's Drug Store.

Rural School Letter No 2 Builds Community in South Dakota

The rural school in western Charles Mix County, South Dakota, described as a community builder, thrived for over twenty years after starting as an academy linked to a post office. Led by Rev. L. E. Camfield, it integrated farm life with classroom learning, operated a school farm, and developed household economics under women students. The pastor-stewardship and church support strengthened both church and school, producing educated teachers and practical farmers who sustained local life and fostered a reverent work ethic.
