Judge William J. Malone and Dillon Wallace of Bristol completed a Labrador expedition begun June 20 to place a tablet at the Hubbard death site and locate Lake Misikamau. A telegram from Indian Harbor Newfoundland reports the expedition successful though the explorers were lost in Labrador’s interior and are well.
The Court Marina Fraternal group announced second place in the Fraternal Baseball League earning a trophy. They set a slambake for Sept. 7 at Columbus Park and discussed sharing winter entertainment with Court Wheeler. Chief Ranger Thomas of Court Nathaniel Wheeler attended.
Norfolk reporter notes Joseph E. Parsons found a large rattlesnake with nine rattles on the steep road from Canaan Mountain toward South Canaan. The snake resisted movements and fought when encountered by Parsons.
A snake dragged down the mountain to a friend's house and into an old wagon. It later crawled out and moved toward Parsons, prompting a quick clubbing to stop it. Police seek suspects in several hotel and jewelry thefts. Robert Baker and an alleged accomplice were involved in New York cases, with one released after settlement in another locality. News items include students traveling coast to coast and a New Haven tale of a tub voyage.
