Altoona Aug 1 Samuel Montgomery of Hed Hill near here died today from injuries after an auto strike Saturday night. The driver fled the scene leaving him unconscious on the road for hours. Reports say Montgomery was robbed of money after the crash.

City Mourns At Death Of F. J. Mulcahy

Frank J. Mulcahy vice president and general manager of Crane Valve Co. died at St. Vincent's hospital after a two week illness from appendicitis. A Bridgeport leader in business and civic life born in Cleveland in 1854, he rose through Pennsylvania Railroad and Chicago firms to join Crane Co. as purchasing agent before becoming Bridgeport’s Crane Value Co. vice president and general manager. Wholesale murder and holocaust by frenzied British officer

East Bourne England August 19 Captain Hicks Murray of the Gordon Highlanders killed his two children then shot his wife and set fire to the house. He burned the children and another woman and either himself or a man of similar size. Mrs. Murray survived and claims she knew only her family in the house. Richard C Mackie, an American occupying the premises, is suspected as the unidentified man involved. Police suspect Murray killed himself after the fire. An undated note by Murray expresses ruin and desire to be buried with dependents. Investigations continue to identify victims and determine survivor status.

Whitman With Schepps In Tow Dodges Police

Sam Schepps, pursued by New York detectives, was escorted by District Attorney Whitman and aides through Grand Central Station to a waiting taxicab.
