Funeral of Mrs Aven Draws Knights of Pythias in Texas City
At St Peter's church the burial service was led by Rector Jag for Mrs Aven widow of a former Knights of Pythias grand officer. The large funeral cortege included the Knights of Pythias and many friends. Mrs Aven, born Tutlin Catlin in Austin County on June 28 1885, was daughter of Judge J H Catlin a pioneer of Texas. She served as secretary of the St Peter's Altar Guild and her death prompts deep mourning from a wide circle. The obituary notes extended family in El Paso and Old Mexico and mentions a July 20 1900 court-related notices and Reese brothers cases set for January terms in Bastrop county.
