William Witty of Pleasant Garden Putnam county died in Brazil at his son in law Leason Pruner's residence on August 22 at age 72 and was buried at Stongh cemetery after services at Pruner's home. He came to Indiana in 1828 and lived in Pleasant Garden until his house burned August 18. He leaves seven children including Mrs L B Pruner and Mattie, ailing son William, and sons Dr B F Witty Jonathan B Witty, W M Witty, A L Witty postmaster, J H Witty. Many relatives and friends attended. The notice also mentions local visits, a fight advertised but blocked by ads, births twins to Edward and wife, and various town happenings including anniversaries, travel, and letters remaining at the post office.
