Democratic event at Forest Park drew a record turnout as Clay County Women’s Democratic Club promoted the rally. Congressman Arthur Greenwood and other leaders urged support for Roosevelt and a return to Jeffersonian governance amid national economic critique.
Clay county officials urged the State Highway Commission to take over a proposed road from Terre Haute to Spencer via Bowling Green and Vandalia. The plan,延 includes No 40 from Vandalia to Patricksburg and No 1 connections, with condemnation if needed. The move promises maintenance savings for Clay and eventual broader state highway coverage.
The Clay County Teachers Institute will meet in the Convention Hall at the court house for a two day session by August 4 and 24. J Riley McCullough county superintendent announces prominent speakers including George G Coly state superintendent representative from the state Fire Marshal's office F C Tilden of DePauw University and Fred Laudie. In Plains Missouri on August 15 Mr Sarah Hale Tabor and her son William Hale former residents of Brazil Indiana were jailed in connection with the death of Westend Tom Tabor a 58 year old laborer of Pottersville Missouri. The trio claimed Tom Tabor shot himself but a coroner's jury found homicide by unknown person or persons.
Local hospital news lists residents admitted for treatment and those discharged over the weekend. Names include Bush of Nori Walnut Street and Mrs. Vauline Pusey of East Vermont Street with multiple other patients from Terre Haute and nearby areas noting operations and transfers.
Libby plant manager Hackman says extreme heat hurt first picking but second harvest should escape damage. About 1000 acres of healthy plants will begin moving into the plant by August and, with favorable weather, November yields could be the best in years. A survey by Blackman shows crop prospects bright with substantial acreage under contract.
Two men robbed the Feeder Dam dance hall on Wednesday evening taking an estimated small amount of cash. Sheriff investigated the scene and searched the countryside while Mrs Hoffman identified a car with Kentucky plates and noted the assailants resembled a pair seen near a prior attempted liquor raid at another nearby venue.

Norma Jeffries of East Kra zen Street visits relatives in Indianapolis. John Niecklew and daughter Lois of Terre Haute stay with Jane Carpenter on North Meridian Street. Albert McCullough of Terre Haute spends Monday night with J Riley McCullough. Ed Nance family spend weekend in Clana Park Illinois. Jack Peoman Od Wilder and Charles Hudson take a trip to Grand Rapids Minnesota.
