Steen's Creek High School Opens Under New Enrolment
The Steen's Creek High School began Tuesday morning under Prof. J. C. Jones with 165 pupils, the largest in its history. The opening followed the death of Dr. Wm. M. Flowers and included remarks by Rev. J. S. Purcell and Mr. R. H. Henry. The faculty lists J. G. Tones as principal, with A. G. Mayers, Miss Jamie Rice, Miss Sue Martin, Mrs. Grey Ellis, and Mrs. C. E. Eckhardt. The principal aims to enroll 75 more students this year as the school continues to grant degrees and diplomas across ten grades including Latin and higher mathematics.

Dr. Wm Flowers died at his Florence home Monday at 11 30 after a brief illness. He was 8 years in Florence in the drug business and born near Crystal Springs. The Daily Clarion Ledger praises his charity and esteem. Masonic honors and Woodmen escort marked his burial with Rev. Wayne Suttor and Rev. J S Purcell officiating. Truly a good and noble man has fallen.
