L D McBride of Florence reports the death of his son John Gayden McBride a fireman second class in the U S Navy who perished when the U S Transport Ticonderoga was sunk by an enemy submarine near September 30 1918 telegrams from Washington confirmed the loss. The Red Cross Gulf Division postpones its elections to November due to influenza to aid public health efforts.
