Obituary: Richard D. McRae Dies at 78 in Brandon
Richard D. McRae of Brandon died Saturday at Baptist Hospital Jackson at 4 00 pm in his 79th year. He was born August 4 1844 in Brandon and lived there most of his life. A veteran of the Civil War he served in the 28th Mississippi Cavalry under J M Smith and later William Ratliff. He fought at Franklin Dalton Stone Mountain and the Atlanta campaign. He married Fannie Proctor in 1866. Nine sons and two daughters survived with his wife and several grandchildren. He was a long time Ran kin County supervisor and president of the board. Funeral services were held Sunday November 5 at 11 o clock at Brandon Cemetery conducted by Dr Tolle with Major Pat Henry delivering the grave oration.
