The May term convened Monday and adjourned Tuesday with many cases heard. Included were perjury filings, assault and battery charges, replevin judgments, and numerous continuances and bonds. Juries returned verdicts of not guilty in some cases and substantial monetary judgments in others. The grand jury reported 34 true bills after examining 211 witnesses and praised county officials before requesting discharge.

Rankin County Democratic Convention Set for June 13
Rankin County Democratic Executive Committee meeting on May 18 1908 orders county convention to meet at Brandon June 13 to elect 100 delegates 20 per beat and to choose a new county executive committee for four years. precincts meet June 6 to elect delegates by secret ballot with apportionment listed for each beat and precinct.

Rev W W Kersh died last Saturday after pneumonia and complications following treatment at Brandon Sanitarium. He was 67, native of the county, married three times, father of fourteen (10 living). He served as county treasurer and chancery clerk, was a Baptist preacher, and a 41 year Mason. He is survived by his mother, 91, and other relatives. funeral with Masonic honors held in Brandon cemetery.
