Rankin County Board Makes Road and Bridge Allocations

The Rankin County Legislature met May 1 with all members present. It appointed George Tillis and Henry Powell as road overseers, rejected a bid for a bridge at Sanders Creek, and authorized re advertisements. It approved tuition funds for Dry Creek school, allowed gate restrictions on roads 3 and 35, and fixed county officer salaries. A lengthy list of bridge and road expenses followed, with various warrants issued for county projects. Rankin Camp of United Confederate Veterans held May 6, admitted new members, honored deceased comrades, elected delegates to the Louisville reunion, and prepared badges and decorates graves with reports printed in The Brandon News.
