Judge William Mayes Watson, long time Brandon resident and justice of the peace, died at his home on College Street at 7 oclock. Born December 21 1844 in Cobb County Georgia he served in the Confederate Army. He moved to Rankin County after the war and married Mary Turcott January 1 1880, fathering seven children. A devout Presbyterian and elder, he served as justice of the peace for six years and was re elected two years ago. Funeral at the Presbyterian Church Monday at 5, conducted by Rev McJunkin Forest, with Tyrian Masonic Lodge honors.
A missionary from India spoke in Des Moines area about his inland journey where illness struck him. He carried Chamberlain's Colic Cholera and Diarrhoea Remedy which he credits with saving his life and notes its use in India as a preventative and cure for cholera. He asserts it can handle milder bowel complaints in the United States and says it is obtainable everywhere.
