Public Hanging Draws Countywide Crowds and Debate
Early Friday crowds flocked to view the public execution of a Black man later identified as Mack, a convicted rapist from Tate county. The event drew residents from Ramkin and neighboring counties, with soldiers present and a somber, orderly mood. Mack confessed guilt, was executed at 12 42 pm, and his body was buried in the negro graveyard as curious locals seized keepsakes from the scene.
