Pelahatchie Election Precinct Bond Vote Request

Rankin County Mississippi board orders public notice in Brandon News for three weeks in January 1917. A petition by more than twenty percent of Pelahatchie Election Precinct electors seeks to place the precinct under Chapter 176 of the 1914 laws and issue bonds up to 75000 dollars to build or maintain public roads. If twenty percent petition against bonds is filed, bonds require a majority vote in a separate election. The notice invokes the clerk to publish and confirms the order January 4, 1917.

Utopian Club elects officers for second term

The Utopian Club met December 20, 1916, electing Ruth Roberts president and a lineup including Etta May as vice president Agnes Barnett secretary Dorothy Stingily treasurer Daisy Stevens sergeant at arms and Vesta May reporter. A program for January 19 to raise funds for a school library will be held. attendees urged to support the library by attending.
