An editorial urges Millsaps College in Jackson Mississippi to honor Woodrow Wilson with a memorial. It lauds his idealism patriotism and international justice and argues posterity will reward his civically righteous sacrifice and world peace efforts despite partisan prejudice.
Miss Jessie Bell Robbins recovers from pneumonia and is able to be up. Annie Bell Thompson and brother Johnnie of Lawrence visit Mrs. Howard Whatley. J W Harper of Thomasville spends Sunday with L E Buchana and family. Many in the community suffer colds and fevers but show improvement. Mrs. R H Cooper of Pelahatchie and Mrs. T J Rodgers Jr of Andrew Chapel visit Mrs. H L Robbins. Blanch-Thomas finishes school at Greenfield and returns home. D M Robbins of Jackson visits relatives in Guide. Prof D B Courtney spends Sunday in Fannin. David White of Concord and Doe Rodgers of Andrew Chapel visit Guide. Howard Whatley and Annie Belle Thompson visit Mr. S Rodgers. Mrs. Walter Rushton and Mrs. Roy Robbins of Pelablatchie spend Friday with Mrs. H L Robbins. I L Robbins, ill for months, up briefly each day and hoped for full recovery.
Mr Chris Carter remains on sick list while Miller and Morgan moved into a new brick garage. A petition for a Twenty thousand dollar bond to build and equip a modern brick school will circulate soon. Star High school teams eye Rankin County title as two motorized buses run efficiently to fetch students from Bellpine and Stevens store. Zella Hargrove Gaither, famed Mississippi author now in Little Rock, visits relatives here. Christine Berry of Star High faculty visits Bolton, Billie Barlow returns from D Lo. The Internal Revenue Service district of Mississippi issued new regulations 47 and 48 on art and jewelry excise taxes. Art sales now taxed at 5 percent, jewelry remains at 5 percent but excludes gold or silver ornamented spectacles. Tax applies to all sales except original artist sale, sales to educational institutions or public museums, and dealer resale. Repeal of musical instrument tax except if made with precious metal. fountain pens with gold points taxable. Lieut. Cole Burns of Brandon, son of the postmaster, dies in the army dirigible Roma crash over Hampton Roads proving grounds. Born in Rankin County, he attended local schools and Mississippi College, served since 1917, survived by wife, child, parents, and siblings. The disaster struck as the Roma dipped toward the bay, breaking high tension lines and bursting into flames after ballast was dumped.
A dated 2/11/1922 from Delhi La speaks of strong eggs and singing hens after using Dr Halls Poultry Tonic. The writer C H Hartley notes increased egg yield and roosters crowing, with neighbors noticing the change.
Following the completion of The Idle Class Chaplin's latest First National comedy at the Majestic theatre Jackson Feb 24 and 25. Prof Murch headmaster of St Agnes School recalls Chaplin as a child troubled by arithmetic yet lively and brave, the Boys and sometimes death to some. Last SundayBrandon folks enjoyed springlike day with cars and country rides as Jackson visitors paid calls in the city.
