Victory Liberty Loan plans underway next spring

Atlanta residents read of national drive for the Victory Liberty Loan in early April. Officials expect a bond issue near six billion dollars with attractive terms to fund postwar demobilization and pay war debts. Speculators Pressure to Buy Liberty Bonds Cheaply

Reports to the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta warn Liberty Bond owners are selling at discounts as speculators push for exchanges for other so called securities with higher interest. Treasury officials stress Liberty Bonds are worth their face value backed by U S resources, and selling them risks losing invested money and interest. Some holders blame the postwar lull, but deserting the bond is viewed as dishonorable to the war effort.
