Mississippi law updates section 4328 to require tax sale on the first Monday of April for unpaid taxes. The act clarifies sale procedure, advertising validity, and damages on errors, effective upon passage February 1, 1908. Local ad copy promotes W. G. Barnes furniture, stoves, groceries, and wagons in Owensboro.
A Mississippi mob of thousands overpowered military guards during transit of Eli Pigott, an accused assailant of Miss Williams near Brookhaven. Pigott was dragged to a telegraph pole and hanged before trial. Officers, guards, and bystanders were injured in the melee. Gov. Noel pledged stringent use of troops to quell mob violence.
Governor Noel releases appointments across eight congressional districts and statewide, naming doctors for the State Board of Health and Dental Exene and listing five appointees from the state board of health.
