Brookhaven Lynch Ended Tragedy After Mob Attack

A Mississippi mob of thousands overpowered military guards during transit of Eli Pigott, an accused assailant of Miss Williams near Brookhaven. Pigott was dragged to a telegraph pole and hanged before trial. Officers, guards, and bystanders were injured in the melee. Gov. Noel pledged stringent use of troops to quell mob violence.
