County Agent reports county meetings were well attended with full business. In Liberty, Langford, Holly Bush, Pisgah and other areas farmers emphasized food crops over cotton and planned Farm Bureau actions. Meetings noted high losses from last cotton season and urged diversification and home feeding to reduce dependence on cotton.
In New Prospect Miss on February 4 1921 thirteen men attended a mass meeting at the schoolhouse. The vote was unanimous to grow all food and feed on farms and plant very little cotton. A farmers association was organized to meet monthly with W E Cunningham serving as secretary.
Fannin Miss February 7 1921 letter notes farmers meeting held February 4 with unanimous approval of resolutions urging greater diversification and increased efforts to grow food stuffs.
County Agent Burks leads Rankin county executives in endorsing a "make a living at home" program. Farmers share crop experiences and discuss diversified planting as the Farm Bureau prepares official organization. Speakers emphasize local markets, standardization, and self reliance for surplus crops and cotton.
At a Brandon meeting on Monday February 7 permanent organization of the Rankin County Farm Bureau was completed Jesus Bava of Directors of the year outlines marketing of farm products and promotion of profitable crops The speech urges farmers to grow marketable products and to sell them to gain influence on prices It ends noting continued discussion on page two
