Brandon town council meets with cattle ordinance passed

The Brandon Mississippi town council met February 1 in regular session with Aldermen Barnes Sprague Shields and McLaurin present. They approved several accounts for T T Cottrell J E Martin W C Palmer F B Walrod and A M Shields and authorized a pay credit to the school fund. Alderman Shields presented a cattle running at large ordinance, which passed. The marshal to enforce it will post notices, seize unclaimed cattle, and sell at public outcry after ten days. Fees include 50 cents posting, 25 cents per day care, and 25 cents per head taken up. The ordinance takes effect April 1 1910. The council adjourned with Mayor P Henry and Clerk A M Shields presiding.

Real estate transfers listed for several tracts

A long list of real estate transfers shows A F Milner transferring 80 acres to Mrs C Harris and multiple other deeds. Transactions include Brinson to Crain 36 acres, McAfee family land in section 17, various McAfee names acquiring parcels, Collier to Means 50 acres, Ward and Ponder to Clark, and numerous 20 to 160 acre transfers with prices ranging from 1.00 to 1,600.00.
