Williams Saw Mill Destroyed by Fire Near Rankin
A saw mill owned by W. J. Williams & Son four miles northeast of Rankin was destroyed by fire Monday night. Formerly Adams mill, it had large daily output. The fire, discovered by the watchman, consumed the plant though the planer mill nearby was saved. No insurance was carried and losses totaled several thousand dollars.

Mullen Child Laid to Rest at Andrew Chapel
After three weeks of illness eight month old Margaret Eloise Mullen daughter of Mr and Mrs R R Mullen Jackson died last Wednesday. Physicians and friends did all possible but she did not recover. The baby was the couple's only child and was loved by all. Her mother formerly Miss Comfort Rankin County girl who lived in Andrew Chapel area. Funeral held at home Wednesday evening by Rev H M King. Interment in Andrew Chapel Cemetery Thursday.

Final Picnic of Campaign Held Here Friday
The final picnic of the campaign was held in the city on Friday at the High School auditorium and campus. Visitors enjoyed lemonade served by Misses Annie Henry and Trix Maxey and a dinner provided by local ladies. J. S. Roberts presided as master of ceremonies while many candidates spoke to an enthusiastic crowd.

Services Held At Two Churches Here Sunday
Dr M O Patterson pastor of the Baptist Church and Mr Val H Sessions Rector of St Luke s Episcopal Church filled their monthly appointments Sunday in this city. Patterson preached to a large congregation in the morning but night service was canceled due to bad weather. Sessions preached both morning and evening. Splendid crowds attended both services. A Holy Communion was celebrated at St Luke s Monday at 7 o clock Transfiguration Day. A goodly number attended this service. Some people would stand on their leads for a dollar if their heads weren t too soft.

President Harding Laid To Rest Friday
The nation mourns President Harding who died in San Francisco last Thursday. His life described as Christian and gentle, he died a soldier in service. His mortal remains will be laid to rest in Marion Ohio Friday afternoon. Mourning sets in with many places closing between 3 and 4 o clock. Warren G Harding is gone and sleep comes at last to those who bore the presidency.

Maniacs Sent to Asylum Within a Week
T. J. Lily a sheriff from Howell brought a convict to the city who, after investigation, was sent to the Jackson Asylum. Charlie Buckhalter, a Fan nin resident, was brought in a wild condition after a stay at the asylum. he resisted with three men needed to restrain him and was taken to the Insane Hospital.

Moonshine Still Busted in Pela hatchie Smoke House
Police arrested Houston Spann with R E Murry and Dan Bynum after raiding a Pela hatchie home Sunday night. Two barrels of mash and a moonshine still were found in a smoke house. Spann was jailed awaiting a hearing as Rankin County tightens moonshine crackdowns amid warnings about illegal liquor.

The New Prospect School started Monday morning with about eighty students, the largest first day enrollment in its history.
