Fire destroys three Seventh Street rookeries in incendiary blaze
Three unoccupied buildings at Seventh and Laurel streets were burned completely Monday night. The flames reached the rear of the first and second structures before discovery. Despite prompt response, they were deemed inextinguishable due to a fire trap setup from former Sixth street rookeries. The blaze, ruled incendiary with no insurance, jeopardizes a planned single roof brick veneer project by owner W. D. McKay who had recently purchased the lots and leased them as a six year hotel site. He plans to rebuild, though fall construction seems unlikely.

The Logging Outlook for Winters Lumbering Profits
The Northwestern Lumberman predicts few will contract for log stocks this winter and even fewer pine owners will risk debt to cut and market timber. Some may try to seize high prices next summer, but much of this year’s logs will carry over to meet next year’s demand amid a weak mood and reduced winter employment. A note invites readers to Yeon’s in Gardner’s block to view jewelry and profits.
