E J Mills and S H Fleener are sought for horse theft in the city. Mills rented the Whitley farm last fall with his family and mortgaged a team and cord wood deceitfully. Fleener, his partner, helped sell horses in Warren and later a cow in Brainerd and hay in East Brainerd before vanishing. Authorities issue statewide circulars for arrest. The Madison actress and company opened a seven day engagement at Sleeper opera house with Forget Me Not. Richardson Cotton and John E. Miles gave strong turns as Sir Horace Welby and the Prince while mandolin and guitar duets highlighted the program. Tonight the company performs The New Magdalen and the Sentinel predicts first class shows and good patronage. Also notes include election canards warning, a Ladies and Children's cloaks sale, and a land exchange ad for 160 acres near Fort Riply with 60 under cultivation offered by J. R. Smits.
Filing closed on Tuesday with a long list of nominees for county offices. Names include Auditor Louis Tache Treasurer John T Frater Register of Deeds A Mahlum Clerk of the District S H Parker Judge of Probate Milton McFadden County Attorney C E Chiperfield County Surveyor R K Whiteley and others. The city slate mirrors contests for mayor judges aldermen and the board of education with party designations and independents noted. Bob Evans to speak at the opera house Saturday evening and local ads advertise housekeeping outfits and beef prices.
Crow Wing county voters are urged to support William Williamson, independent Republican candidate for sheriff, in the upcoming election. He requests support from all honest voters regardless of the editorials in the Brainerd Journal.
