Free trader from Cass county pays after wire theft
The Register reports a Cass county man stole two spools of fence wire from under E. E. MecMillin’s shed, loaded them in a wagon, and drove away. After a few days MecMillin located the wire and sent two men to recover it. The thief returned Monday and paid 25 dollars to settle, claiming the wire valued about 36 dollars with the rest as protection to an American merchant.
